IPNMS Background
The Irish Pain Nurses and Midwives Society (IPNMS) has been evolving gradually since 2010. It began when a small group of specialist pain management nurses met following a pain meeting in Dublin in January 2010. They acknowledged the need for a structured forum for pain nurses & midwives nationally to exchange information, increase educational opportunities and provide professional support in the field of pain management. Several further meetings followed and the first IPNMS committee was elected in the summer of 2011. The IPNMS was officially launched on 21st October 2011.
The IPNMS is slowly growing to include pain specialists from all corners of Ireland. Pain specialists provide expertise in acute pain or chronic pain or both.
If you are a nurse or midwife in Ireland, you are welcome to become a member of the IPNMS.
